About Shamila
About Shamila
Shamila is a warm and genuine therapist, who aims to create a judgement-free space that all clients can feel their most comfortable in. With a curious and collaborative approach, she aims to help clients understand what is happening for them, what factors contribute to this and how they can work towards their goals
Shamila has worked across a range of settings, including university clinics, gambling clinics, disability services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, private psychiatric hospitals, employee assistance programs, private practise and public health services. Currently, in addition to her work at myLife Psychologists, she also works in community mental health within the public health system.
Shamila utilises various evidence based therapeutic approaches. These include Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Cognitive behaviour therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
Shamila has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Macquarie University, and a Master of Clinical Psychology at University of Technology Sydney. She is currently undertaking the clinical psychology registrar program.
