Alexander Svenson
Clinical Psychologist
Meet Alex
Alex is passionate about helping people get through difficult periods in their lives and sharing in their journey of self-discovery. He works from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspective that he tailors to the individual, and incorporates techniques from other approaches to improve treatment outcomes.
Alex has experience working in public health, private practice, and not-for-profit. He has provided assessment and evidence-based treatment to individuals across the lifespan from adolescents to older adults experiencing a range of psychological difficulties. In addition to his work with MyLife, Alex is employed as a clinical psychologist at the Black Dog Institute, and he is also completing a PhD. He is a board-approved supervisor, providing clinical supervision to psychologists in training. He hopes to eventually combine his interests in psychology and behavioural economics.
Alex was born in Norway but now calls Sydney home. He speaks English, Norwegian and intermediate level Greek. Alex loves walking in the forest, be it Australian bushland or Norwegian pine forest, and reading and learning new things. His favourite part of the day is sunset when the sky fills with colour.
