Dr Madison David
Provisional Psychologist – currently completing AHPRA’s transitional program for overseas-trained psychologists
Meet Madison
Madison recently returned to her hometown of Sydney after completing her Clinical Psychology training in the United States. With a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from San Diego, California, Madison brings extensive experience working with young adults (17–24) and adults across the lifespan in diverse settings, including hospitals, public health, and university mental health services. As an overseas-trained psychologist, Madison is currently completing AHPRA’s transitional program to achieve full registration in Australia, and she is set to finalise this process in early 2025.
Madison incorporates evidence-based therapy techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, and her trauma-informed yoga background. She works from a relational psychodynamic lens, helping clients understand how their past relationships and unconscious patterns shape their present lives, using the therapeutic relationship as a space to explore, challenge, and transform these dynamics. Her therapeutic style is open-minded, compassionate, and collaborative. She integrates moments of lightness and humour to ease the therapeutic process and build connection, and she values individual differences and the way identity factors and cultural background shape each client’s experiences and therapy journey. This diverse skill set allows her to create a safe and supportive space for her clients to explore their challenges.
Madison’s areas of special interest include supporting clients with life transitions (e.g. pregnancy and birth; acculturation), disordered eating and body image concerns, relationship challenges, weight stigma, anxiety, depression, stress, and personality disorders.
Outside of work, Madison enjoys spending time by the ocean, staying active, reading, and connecting with loved ones.
