Meet Doukessa
Doukessa is dedicated to improving her clients’ mental health and wellbeing by building a positive, empathic therapy relationship and staying current with the most up-to-date psychological approaches. Over the course of a dynamic career, she has gained wide-ranging experience in community mental health, psychiatry, and mental health research, as well as in executive and life coaching. Her work has given her extensive experience with people across the lifespan, from adolescents through to older adults.
She has particular expertise in supporting clients with anxiety disorders (including panic attacks, agoraphobia, social phobia, generalised anxiety, specific phobias, PTSD, and OCD) and depression. In addition, she provides evidence-based support for individuals facing workplace challenges and burnout, adjustments to life changes, and grief and loss. Her practice also includes a strong focus on youth mental health (16+), drug and alcohol misuse, and problem gambling, as well as perinatal mental health, chronic pain and illness, bipolar affective disorder, and bulimia, binge eating, and body image issues.
Beyond her clinical practice, Doukessa holds a PhD research position with the Australian Research Council Project Rebuilding Life After Migration. In this role, she draws on her expertise in clinical psychology to focus on the psychological wellbeing of immigrant youth in Australia, the USA, and Canada.
Bilingual in English and Modern Greek, Doukessa brings a multicultural lens to her work. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys cooking and exploring new cuisines, as well as reading, swimming, and running.
