Byron Morrison-Mills
Registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar
Meet Byron
Byron is a warm, genuine, and curious psychologist who values transparency and collaboration in the therapy process. His priority is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. At the heart of his approach is a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship. He draws on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs.
Byron is particularly passionate about Schema Therapy, and is currently working towards accreditation in this modality with the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST). This is an in-depth approach that explores the core patterns or “schemas” formed early in life. These patterns often develop when emotional needs are unmet and can keep people stuck in unhelpful cycles. Through Schema Therapy, Byron helps clients understand and shift these patterns, opening the door to healthier coping strategies, more fulfilling relationships, and long-lasting emotional growth.
With experience in both individual and group therapy, Byron has worked with adults and young people across a variety of settings. His work has included supporting neurodiverse adolescents and young adults in private practice, providing therapy in an inpatient hospital setting for individuals living with PTSD, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, and persistent depression, and working at a university psychology clinic with students and LGBTQ+ clients experiencing anxiety and mood disorders.
Clients working with Byron can expect a mix of practical strategies and deeper exploration, helping them to build resilience, develop new perspectives, and move towards living a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with their values.
Outside of the therapy room, Byron is an avid nature enthusiast. He spends his weekends rock climbing, surfing, or exploring scenic bushwalks. He also enjoys quality time with loved ones, playing guitar, and relaxing with a cuppa while watching a movie.
